ROABA - WHEELBARROW

Roaba

Până la modernizarea şi tehnologizarea procesului de exploatare minieră, principalul mijloc de transport (atât al uneltelor cât şi a minereului exploatat) a fost roaba. Realizate din lemn tare (de pildă, stejar), roabele folosite în secolul al XIX-lea erau făcute din lemn cioplit şi tăiat cu fierăstrăul. Atât roata cât şi elementele de lemn care alcătuiau roaba erau încadrate de fâşii de fier, bătute în cuie, lucruri care îi confereau acesteia o mai mare capacitate de sarcină, respectiv o mai lungă perioadă de utilizare.

The wheelbarrow

Until the modernization of the mining process, the main means of transport (both for the tools and for the ore) was the wheelbarrow. The wheelbarrows used in the 19th century were made of hardwood (oak, for example), carved and cut with the saw. Both the wheel as well as the wooden elements that made up the wheelbarrow were framed by iron strips, nailed, which made it possible for the wheelbarrow to have a greater load capacity and to be used for a longer period of time.
